President John Mahama has called for the dismissal of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General Oppong-Peprah and other military leaders. In a statement, he criticized the current government’s handling of national security issues, citing instances of rising insecurity and violence, which he believes compromise the safety of citizens.
Mahama's remarks come in light of recent events that have raised concerns about military effectiveness and accountability. He argued that leadership changes are necessary to restore public confidence in the military's ability to maintain peace and security. The former president emphasized the need for a more proactive approach to addressing the underlying causes of unrest and urged the government to take decisive action in appointing new military heads who can effectively tackle these challenges.
