Mahama elevates Edmond Kombat as new TOR MD

President John Mahama has appointed Edmond Kombat as the Acting Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR). He replaces Dr. Yusif Sulemana in this role. The announcement was made by TOR’s Corporate Affairs Directorate on Thursday, May 2, 2025.

Edmond Kombat has been the Deputy Managing Director since February 2025. He brings extensive experience in the energy sector to this position. His background includes leadership roles at the Ministry of Energy and Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).

Kombat is also a co-founder of the Institute of Energy Security (IES). He has worked on strategic energy projects in South Africa, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

This leadership change supports TOR's transformation agenda. The goal is to strengthen operations and enhance contributions to national economic growth.

Management and staff are expected to support Kombat as he leads TOR through its next phase. The Tema Oil Refinery is a vital asset in Ghana’s energy landscape. This appointment shows the administration's commitment to revitalizing the downstream petroleum sector.
