Mahama expresses hope for stronger Ghana -Czech relations

President John Mahama is optimistic about Ghana's cooperation with the Czech Republic. He believes this will strengthen bilateral relations, especially in vocational training and industrial development.

He made these remarks on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. This was during a joint conference at Jubilee House in Accra. The conference coincided with the three-day state visit of Czech President Petr Pavel.

Mr. Mahama reflected on past collaborations and future opportunities. He emphasized the Ghana Labour Export Programme he launched to help young Ghanaians gain vocational skills for jobs abroad.

“I introduced the Ghana Labour Export Programme to train youth for international work,” he said. He also mentioned seeking cooperation with the Czech Republic for vocational training.

He highlighted a successful partnership between the Czech government and Ghana’s Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC). This collaboration helped revive the Kumasi Shoe Factory, which now supports local manufacturing.

Mr. Mahama noted that discussions are ongoing for more joint ventures between DIHOC and Czech businesses. “We are exploring further cooperation between DIHOC and the Czech private sector,” he stated.

Looking ahead to the Ghana-Czech Business Forum tomorrow, he expressed hope for lasting benefits. “I am hopeful our discussions and tomorrow's forum will deepen relations between our nations,” he said.

He concluded by warmly welcoming President Pavel and his delegation to Accra. He wished them a productive and enjoyable stay in Ghana.
