**Mahama Gives Chief Justice Torkonoo 10 Days to Respond to Removal Petitions**
President John Mahama has given Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo 10 days. She must respond to three petitions calling for her removal from office.
Mahama received these petitions since he became president. He has started consultations with the Council of State regarding them.
Torkonoo requested copies of the petitions against her. In response, Mahama expressed disappointment over her request's circulation.
The presidency noted that Torkonoo shared the request as an attachment. This was sent to several legal leaders, including the Supreme Court President.
Mahama's consultations with the Council of State follow Article 146 of the Constitution. The Council will review the petitions and advise Mahama on what to do next.
