Mahama gives health update on Vice President Jane Naana at sanitary pad launch

President John Dramani Mahama has assured the nation about Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. He said she is “very well” and recovering after being hospitalized in late March.

The President spoke during the launch of a sanitary pad distribution program on April 24, 2025. He extended warm greetings from the Vice President, who could not attend the event.

“I wish to extend Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang's greetings to all of you,” Mahama said. “I spoke to her yesterday. She said she would miss this event because it is very dear to her.”

He added that she is recuperating and catching some rest. “She is very well and will soon join us to continue our agenda,” he stated.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre on March 29. This followed a health scare the day before.

While specific details were not shared, an official statement confirmed her stable condition. She has been advised to continue receiving medical care abroad as a precaution.

Her hospitalization prompted many across the country to send support and well-wishes. Many expressed admiration for her service and hoped for her swift recovery.
