Minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticized President John Dramani Mahama's government. He claims the government has failed to keep its promises to Ghanaians.
During the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement, he expressed disappointment. He believes the government has not met public expectations.
Afenyo-Markin pointed out that key commitments remain unfulfilled. These include economic stability, job creation, and infrastructure development.
He stated, “The government made lofty promises, but we have a struggling economy.” He added that unemployment is rising and pledges are unfulfilled.
He also criticized the budget for lacking clear direction. He argued it does not provide practical solutions to pressing challenges.
Afenyo-Markin noted inconsistencies in the government's fiscal plans. “This budget does not reflect bold leadership,” he said. Instead, it offers vague assurances and recycled policies.
He emphasized that the opposition will hold the government accountable. They aim to ensure transparency in policy implementation.
In conclusion, Afenyo-Markin urged the government to take responsibility for its failures. He called for a reconsideration of their governance approach.
He stressed that Ghanaians deserve leadership focused on real progress. “Ghanaians are watching and will not be deceived by empty promises,” he warned. It is time for decisive action to fulfill their mandate.
