Mahama is soft on galamsey because he is compromised – Richard Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made serious allegations against President John Dramani Mahama. He claims Mahama cannot act decisively against illegal mining, known as galamsey. Ahiagbah believes this is due to Mahama's political ties with those involved in galamsey.

“President Mahama is very soft on galamsey,” Ahiagbah said. He noted that the situation has worsened under Mahama’s leadership. He accused Mahama of being compromised by his campaign promises from 2020.

Ahiagbah suggested that these political connections limit Mahama's ability to take action. “He cannot do anything, at least in the short term,” he stated about addressing illegal miners.

He also criticized the current government's strategy for tackling illegal mining. While strong statements are made, he argues there are no effective measures in place. “Galamsey is worse today,” he warned, emphasizing the threat it poses to existence.

Ahiagbah acknowledged that illegal mining is an ongoing issue. He stressed the need for a non-partisan approach to address it effectively. “Let’s deal with the issue outside of politics because they interlace,” he urged.

In conclusion, Ahiagbah reiterated his belief that the worsening state of illegal mining relates to NDC's political interests. “The idea that galamsey is getting worse is because the NDC benefits from it,” he claimed.
