President John Dramani Mahama has defended the removal of the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-levy). He believes this move will enhance digital financial services in Ghana.
Mahama spoke at the Czech-Ghana Business Cooperation Seminar. The event took place at the Mövenpick Hotel in Accra. He highlighted his 24-hour economy policy, which targets strategic sectors for collaboration.
This policy aims to create opportunities between Ghanaian and Czech businesses. It focuses on manufacturing, automobile production, and agro-processing. Mahama stated that Ghana is becoming a manufacturing hub in West Africa.
He expressed confidence that removing the E-levy will support a more inclusive digital economy. Mahama said repealing the E-levy and other taxes will promote growth in digital financial services.
