The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama. They want him to start the process of removing Auditor General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu from office.
ASEPA’s Executive Director, Mensah Thompson, spoke about the petition. He said, “We are calling on the President to invoke Article 187(13) of the Constitution for his removal.”
ASEPA claims the Auditor General committed “high crime, abuse of office, and constitutional violations.”
They allege he failed to follow Supreme Court directives. They also accuse him of unlawfully retaining public funds and overstepping parliamentary authority.
The petition was filed on April 3, 2025, at Jubilee House. This could lead to significant changes in Ghana’s Audit Service.
