Mahama nominates 33 MMDCEs for Eastern Region

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Chief Executives for all 33 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Eastern Region.

This is part of his effort to fill key local government positions. So far, 216 MMDCEs have been named nationwide.

The Minister of Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, announced the nominations. These nominations require approval by a two-thirds majority in their respective assemblies.

They are made under Article 243(1) of the Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

Notably, two parliamentary candidates are nominated as MCEs. Philibert Amenorpe Selorm Fumey represents Nsawam-Adoagyiri. Samuel Adongo represents New Juaben North.
