President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Roads and Highways to speed up work on the Maaban–Goaso Highway. This road is vital for the Ahafo Region.
The instruction was given during his "Thank You Tour" on Saturday, May 31. This tour aims to improve infrastructure and support regional economic growth.
President Mahama highlighted the highway's importance for local travel and national trade. He stated, “We will not abandon projects started by the past government.” He emphasized that his administration would finish existing projects and build what is necessary.
He also mentioned that political differences would not hinder infrastructure development. “Governance is continuity,” he reiterated.
As part of a larger initiative, President Mahama announced an inventory of abandoned infrastructure projects nationwide. This assessment will help revive critical projects with significant socio-economic impact.
“We have taken inventory of all abandoned and uncompleted projects by previous governments,” he said.
In this context, he tasked the Roads Ministry with prioritizing the Maaban–Goaso Highway. He also mentioned key roads in Goaso, Kenyase, and Acherensua.
“I have directed the Ministry to prioritize completing this crucial link for mobility and trade,” he added.
Additionally, he called for upgrades to urban roads to support town growth and ensure safer transport systems.
