Mahama over-delivered on 120-day social contract – Edem Agbana

Edem Agbana, the MP for Ketu North, defended President John Dramani Mahama's performance. He described it as an “over-delivery” on the social contract from the campaign.

Agbana stated that the President met key benchmarks and added new policies. He spoke on The Big Issues on Channel One TV on May 10, 2025.

He noted that even members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wanted Mahama to fulfill his pledges. This was important for building public trust.

“Now that the timeline has elapsed, we are very impressed,” he said. “To some of us, President Mahama has over-delivered.”

Agbana claimed Mahama earned more than 100% for his performance in 120 days. He highlighted that many unpromised things were delivered.

His comments followed criticism from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). They held a press conference on May 8, 2025, to challenge Mahama’s performance report.

NPP leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin accused Mahama of abandoning his reform agenda. He claimed the administration embraced a model of governance based on past failures.

“This is not just a speech; it is a call to remembrance,” Afenyo-Markin asserted. He criticized Mahama for governing with indifference after campaigning urgently.

Afenyo-Markin expressed concern about early promises faltering under Mahama’s leadership. He suggested that the administration is entering its “lame duck days.”

“Now the 120 days are over; promises have collapsed,” he said. “Let it be said plainly — you were sold a recycled failure.”
