President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to health projects in the Ashanti Region.
During a visit from Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Mr. Mahama shared his plans. He aims to prioritize key projects to improve public infrastructure, especially in health and roads.
“In the health sector, we will complete the Sewua and Afari military hospitals,” he stated. “We will also finish the maternity and children’s blocks at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.”
Health professionals and residents have long identified these facilities as essential. They are crucial for improving healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region.
The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) serves patients from across Ghana's middle and northern regions. The maternity and children’s blocks have faced years of stalled construction and underfunding. This has led to overcrowding and limited capacity.
Mr. Mahama also mentioned plans for road infrastructure projects. Several road initiatives are set to continue or start under his development program for the Ashanti Region.
“These projects aim to upgrade general infrastructure in the Ashanti Region,” he said.
