President John Dramani Mahama has promised to build a modern hospital in the Ahafo Region. This is part of efforts to improve healthcare across Ghana.
He made this announcement during his “Thank You” tour on Saturday, May 31. The government aims to enhance medical infrastructure in all 16 regions.
“I am pleased to announce that plans are far advanced for the construction of a modern Ahafo Regional Hospital,” he said. He reiterated that every region will receive a regional hospital as promised in their manifesto.
This initiative is part of a national program. It aims to equip each region with a fully functional referral hospital.
President Mahama noted that the new hospital will provide essential services. These include maternal and child healthcare, surgery, diagnostics, and emergency care. The facility will serve as an important referral center, reducing pressure on major hospitals.
“The new Ahafo Regional Hospital will make it unnecessary for people to travel to Kumasi,” he explained. This means fewer patients will need care at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
In closing, President Mahama urged traditional authorities and stakeholders to support the project. He asked them to provide suitable land for construction.
“I am therefore calling on Nananom and stakeholders to facilitate land allocation,” he emphasized. Collaboration is crucial for successfully delivering the hospital.
