President John Mahama is giving hope to Ghanaian Muslims. He promises lower Hajj fares next year if the cedi remains strong.

This shows his government’s commitment to their welfare.

During the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations at Black Star Square, he spoke about financial burdens. Many families struggle with costs for the pilgrimage to Mecca.

The President assured the Muslim community that his administration is working to reduce costs.

He also announced plans to improve Islamic education in Ghana. He directed the Minister for Education to enhance the Islamic Education Unit's operations. This includes recruiting and training more qualified Arabic instructors nationwide.

On Hajj, he acknowledged its financial burden on many families. Despite efforts, this year's costs remain high, even after cuts. However, he is optimistic about a significant drop in fares next year.

If current trends continue, next year's fare could be around 45,000 cedis. He also addressed long-standing requests from the Muslim community.

A bill will soon be presented to Parliament. This bill designates Eid al-Fitr as a public holiday. It recognizes the festival's spiritual importance in Muslim life.
