President John Dramani Mahama has promised to improve roads in the Bono Region. He aims to boost socio-economic growth and development.
His government’s “Big Push” road infrastructure agenda will rehabilitate key roads. This includes Sunyani Inner and Outer city ring roads, Catholic University Road, and Berekum-Sampa Road. The Sampa-Wenchi Road will also be part of this project.
Additionally, Odomasi-Badu Road, Kyeremasu-Gambia Number One, and Gambia Number Two roads will be reshaped. The Sunyani-Techiman Road and Sunyani-Kumasi highway are included as well.
President Mahama made this promise during a durbar at the Sunyani Jubilee Park. This event was part of his ‘Thank You Tour’ of the region.
He assured that funding for the “Big Push” project is ready. Contractors will receive payment within two weeks after submitting their certificates.
The Road Ministry has completed technical assessments for the project. The first phase of the “Big Push” will start soon.
All roads in this project will meet high standards for durability and quality. Improving these roads is crucial for better transportation and healthcare access. It will also enhance agriculture, trade, and commerce.
President Mahama plans to boost sports development across the country. Regions lacking modern sports facilities, including Bono, will benefit from new stadiums.
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is leading a market enhancement strategy. This strategy aims to improve market infrastructure nationwide.
Under this plan, five modern market centers will be built in strategic districts in Bono Region. These markets will have clean water, sanitation facilities, security, daycare centers, and digital infrastructure to support women traders and economic activities.
