President-elect John Dramani Mahama has raised alarm over the high commercial and technical losses at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which exceed 32%, warning that these losses are harming the sector's sustainability.

Mahama stressed that if not addressed, these issues could jeopardize Ghana's progress under the debt exchange program and the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement. He emphasized the need for immediate reforms in ECG's governance to stabilize the energy sector and safeguard the country's broader financial commitments.

He argued that no utility company can survive with such high losses and called for urgent action to prevent further damage to the nation's energy future.
