President John Dramani Mahama has revised the curfew imposed on Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
Effective Monday, January 13, 2025, the new curfew hours will run from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., replacing the previous dawn-to-dusk restriction.
Additionally, a total ban on arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons remains in effect, with violators facing arrest and prosecution, as stated by the Ministry of Interior.
The government has urged residents, including chiefs and youth leaders, to adopt peaceful approaches to resolve disputes.
In a bid to address escalating tensions in Bawku and Walewale, President Mahama is set to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Sunday, January 19, to explore pathways to peace.
