President John Mahama returned to Accra on Saturday night. He attended the investiture of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema in Gabon. The event took place at the Libreville Sports Stadium.
President Nguema is the former military leader of Gabon. He overthrew longtime leader Ali Bongo nearly two years ago. His inauguration followed a landslide victory in the April 12, 2025 election. Nguema won with 90.35 percent of the valid votes.
During his two-day visit, President Mahama attended a state dinner. He also held a meeting with President Nguema about cooperation between their nations. Mahama’s participation supports Ghana’s foreign policy of good neighborliness.
President Mahama was accompanied by a delegation. This included Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and National Security Advisor Prosper D.K. Bani. Other members were Dr. Callistus Mahama and Stan Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations.
