Mahama sacks TTH CEO following allegations of negligence

President John Dramani Mahama has fired Dr. Adam Atiku. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). This decision follows reports of negligence leading to a patient's death in the hospital's Accident and Emergency Ward.

Concerns are rising about healthcare at TTH. Many essential medical equipment are reportedly not working.

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh visited the hospital on April 22. His visit aimed to assess healthcare challenges in the Northern Region. During his visit, he noted many idle medical machines despite payments to suppliers.

The Minister also addressed the ongoing water crisis in Tamale. He described it as a regional issue needing urgent presidential action.

Regarding equipment issues, Mr. Akandoh said actions will depend on hospital management's priorities. He encouraged residents to continue using TTH services, promising improved healthcare delivery.

He stated, “We will think through this together.” He urged everyone to remain calm and support the facility’s services.
