**Mahama Nominates Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi as Kumasi Mayor**
President John Mahama has nominated Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi as the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Kumasi. This nomination is part of a second batch of District Chief Executive (DCE) nominees.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, congratulated Boadi on his nomination. He expressed his support in a Facebook post.
Boadi's nomination requires approval from the members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. He has previously served as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Obuasi.
Dr. Amoakohene praised Mahama's selection and encouraged Boadi to make them proud.
In total, 153 out of 261 local government heads have been nominated by the president so far. The previous batch was announced on March 26 and included eight regions.
Kumasi is the administrative capital of the Ashanti Region and Ghana's second-largest city. It has a population of over 1.4 million people and is home to the Asante Kingdom, led by Asantehene Otumfup Osei Tutu II.
Kumasi was called the Garden City of West Africa in the 1940s due to its greenery. However, it currently faces challenges like rapid urban growth and deteriorating infrastructure.
