President John Dramani Mahama has taken action against political appointees. They failed to meet the asset declaration deadline of March 31, 2025.
The President received information from the Auditor General. It revealed that some appointees did not comply with the directive. As a result, he ordered these officials to forfeit three months’ salary.
This salary will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund. On February 18, 2025, Mahama set the asset declaration deadline. He stated that all appointees must declare their assets by March 31.
An update from the Auditor General indicated non-compliance among some appointees. Those who were appointed before this date and failed to declare will lose three months' salary. This amount will go to the Mahama Cares Trust Fund.
Additionally, all appointees must donate one month’s salary to this fund. Therefore, those who missed the deadline will pay four months' salary in total.
President Mahama also warned that any appointee who fails to declare assets by May 7, 2025, will be dismissed.
