President John Dramani Mahama has taken action against political appointees. They failed to meet the asset declaration deadline of March 31, 2025.
The President received information from the Auditor General. It revealed that some appointees did not comply with the directive. As a result, he ordered these officials to forfeit three months' salary.
This forfeited salary will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund. President Mahama stated, "On February 18, 2025, I set a deadline of March 31." He noted that some appointees failed to meet this deadline.
He continued, "Those who were appointed before March 31 and did not declare assets will forfeit three months' salary." This money will go to the Mahama Cares Trust Fund. Additionally, all appointees must donate one month's salary to this fund.
In total, those who missed the deadline will pay four months' salary to Mahama Cares. The President also warned that any appointee who fails to declare assets by May 7, 2025, will be dismissed.
