Mahama swears in new service commanders

On Friday, President John Dramani Mahama swore in new military commanders. They are now members of the Armed Forces Council.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defence. Afterward, the Council met to discuss important issues. These included promotions and retooling the Ghana Armed Forces.

The newly appointed commanders are Major General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff; Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, Chief of Air Staff.

Many high-ranking officials attended the swearing-in ceremony. This included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was also present.

Additionally, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama attended. Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari were also there.
