Mahama to address nation on 120-day governance contract

President John Dramani Mahama will give a special broadcast on Wednesday, May 7. He will update the nation on his administration’s 120-day contract with Ghanaians.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communication, made this announcement. He encouraged all citizens to tune in to the address.

The broadcast will allow Ghanaians to assess the President's performance over the past four months. They can see how well he has kept his promises from the contract.

Kwakye Ofosu stated, “On Wednesday, the President will hold a broadcast to account for his stewardship.” He urged Ghanaians to listen and draw their own conclusions about the President's compliance with promises.

In an interview on Eyewitness News on May 5, Kwakye Ofosu mentioned that the address would highlight key achievements from the 120-day action plan. This plan is part of President Mahama’s governance agenda since he took office.

So far, President Mahama has fulfilled several major promises:

- Forming a leaner government with fewer ministerial portfolios.
- Holding a National Economic Dialogue for fiscal recovery strategies.
- Conducting an Education Dialogue to renew Ghana’s educational vision.
- Launching ‘Tree for Life’ and ‘Blue Water Initiative’ for environmental restoration.
- Rolling out the ‘One Million Coders’ Programme to boost digital literacy and youth employment.
- Establishing the Mahama Cares Health Fund for healthcare support.
- Abolishing E-Levy, Bet Tax, and Emissions Levy to ease tax burdens.
- Funding the Women’s Development Bank with seed capital from the national budget.
- Introducing a Code of Conduct for Government Appointees to promote accountability.

Kwakye Ofosu added that President Mahama will unveil new initiatives and provide updates on pending commitments. “The President will give an update on what he has been doing regarding the 120-day contract,” he reiterated.
