The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has addressed the Eastern Regional Hospital's management. They assured that construction of the new facility will resume. This will happen under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
The project began in July 2020 during the Akufo-Addo administration. It was supposed to be finished within thirty-six months but has stalled since then.
Thomas Anaba, a committee member and MP for Garu, spoke to the media. He emphasized the President’s commitment to completing the hospital.
“We are reviewing all Agenda 111 projects,” he said. “This includes the one being built here.”
Anaba mentioned that recommendations would be made due to space issues. The hospital needs a modern facility for new services they want to introduce.
“Mahama is ready to complete all Agenda 111 projects,” he added. “The Eastern Region is part of Ghana, and this project will be included.”
