Mahama to upgrade nursing, midwifery colleges into degree-awarding institutions

President John Dramani Mahama announced plans to upgrade nursing and midwifery colleges. Selected colleges will become degree-awarding institutions. This initiative aims to improve tertiary education in the health sector.

Mahama made this announcement on Saturday, May 31, in Goaso. He was on his nationwide Thank You tour at the time. The plan aligns with the NDC government's commitment to quality education.

To support schools, Mahama said buses would be distributed. This distribution will continue for senior high schools and health training institutions.

The President also revealed plans for a new public university in Ahafo Region. This will be the first university there, offering programs in agriculture, natural resources, and health sciences.

“We are committed to expanding tertiary education,” he stated. The new university will provide world-class programs for students in underserved regions.

This announcement is part of Mahama’s Thank You tour. It serves as appreciation for voters after the NDC's victory in the 2024 elections. For Ahafo residents, these commitments signal investment in their future and workforce development.
