President John Dramani Mahama has announced new road projects for the Upper West Region. This is part of the government’s Big Push initiative. He aims to boost growth and improve lives for residents.
During a durbar at Wa Jubilee Park, he thanked the region for its support in the 2024 elections. He promised that their loyalty would lead to real development. Key areas of focus include roads, agriculture, education, and youth empowerment.
The Upper West Region has faced challenges due to poor infrastructure and limited opportunities. However, it is set for significant change under this initiative.
President Mahama detailed plans to rehabilitate key roads in the area. This includes the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga trunk road and new roads along Techiman-Wenchi-Bole-Wa-Hamile corridor. Portions of the Sola-Fufulso road will also be resurfaced.
He mentioned upgrades in several districts like Wa East and Nadowli. “We travelled on terrible roads during the campaign,” he noted. “Work will begin very soon.” He assured residents that contractors would be on-site within months.
Mahama also highlighted economic improvements, noting gains in Cedi value and lower prices.
