President John Dramani Mahama has urged civil society organizations (CSOs) to speak out. He believes holding the government accountable is essential for progress.
During a visit from Efua Ghartey, President of the Ghana Bar Association, Mahama emphasized his commitment to the rule of law. He also highlighted the importance of human rights and constitutional freedoms.
Mahama stated that CSOs should feel free to criticize when necessary. He used a local saying: “If a person is charting a path, he may not know it is crooked.” Only observers can point this out.
He stressed that good governance requires leaders to accept feedback. Constructive input from independent voices strengthens democracy and aligns policies with national interests.
