President John Dramani Mahama has given a directive to the newly inaugurated National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). He wants them, along with Parliament, to create one clear national development plan.
During the inauguration of the 37-member commission on May 19, he emphasized the need for a long-term agenda. Many Ghanaians want a plan that will benefit their lives and future generations.
Mahama stated that Ghanaians seek stability in national development. This stability should go beyond electoral cycles and partisan politics. He urged the NDPC to consolidate existing frameworks like Ghana Beyond Aid Charter and Vision 2057 into one inclusive plan.
The president stressed the importance of collaboration with Parliament and representatives of the people. The final plan should reflect a broad national consensus. It must also be regularly reviewed to address changing domestic and global challenges.
