Mahama visits Veep Opoku-Agyemang in London

President John Dramani Mahama visited Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang in London on Sunday. She is recovering from an illness.

In a statement for International Mother’s Day, the President sent her special greetings. He noted that she deserves rest and looks forward to resuming her duties soon.

He wished a Happy Mother’s Day to her and all Ghanaian mothers.

The President was accompanied by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and MP Kwame Governs Agbodza.

In related news, Dr. Freda Prempeh, founder of the Ultimate Women Foundation (UWF), urged Ghanaians to protect girls from cancers and related diseases this Mother’s Day.

UWF aims to empower vulnerable women and girls in their communities. Dr. Prempeh emphasized that protecting girls can help them grow into healthier women.

She highlighted the importance of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer. Families should encourage their daughters to get vaccinated.

Dr. Prempeh also stressed that attention should focus on challenges hindering girls' growth as they become responsible adults.

She expressed concern about persistent socio-cultural beliefs that harm women and girls, such as early marriage and abusive practices.

The former MP called for more support for girls’ education and career aspirations. She also advocated for economic support for indigenous women.

Dr. Prempeh concluded by stating that mothers deserve recognition for their vital roles in families and child upbringing.
