President John Dramani Mahama has promised to complete key health projects in the Ashanti Region. He prioritizes the maternity block at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
On June 2, he spoke at the Jubilee House. This was during a visit from Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and other chiefs. President Mahama emphasized his commitment to long-overdue projects.
Construction of the five-storey maternity facility began in 2021. This followed the demolition of the old structure. The new block will provide specialized services like paediatric neurology and cardiology.
It will also include a Mother and Baby Unit, a Paediatric Infectious Disease Unit, and a Renal Unit for children.
In addition, President Mahama mentioned plans for Sewua and Afari Military Hospitals. He aims to complete both KATH maternity and children blocks as well.
These projects are part of his ‘Big Push’ Agenda. This initiative focuses on improving public services nationwide, especially in Ashanti Region.
