President John Dramani Mahama has pledged strict sanctions for government appointees. This applies to anyone who violates the new Code of Conduct for public officials.
The Code was unveiled on Tuesday, May 6. It is a key part of the administration's effort to promote professionalism and ethics in the public sector.
Implementing this Code shows the government's commitment to restoring public trust in state institutions.
In a national address on Wednesday, May 7, President Mahama issued a stern warning. He emphasized his seriousness about enforcing the Code.
“I will bring down the hammer swiftly and strongly if they breach any provisions,” he stated.
The Code outlines specific ethical obligations for officeholders. It prohibits using public funds for festive hampers. Additionally, it sets a limit of GH₵20,000 on acceptable gift values.
These measures aim to prevent misuse of public resources. They are expected to enhance transparency and foster integrity within the government.
