Mahama withheld Chief Justice petitions for six weeks – Godfred Dame claims

Godfred Yeboah Dame is the former Attorney General. He currently represents suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.

Dame has accused President John Dramani Mahama of withholding two petitions. He claims the President kept these petitions secret for six weeks before going public.

This allegation arises as the Chief Justice files a motion in the Supreme Court. She seeks an injunction to stop the presidential committee investigating the petitions.

In an interview with Channel One TV, Mr. Dame criticized the President's actions. He argued that they violate constitutional procedures.

He expressed concerns about transparency and fairness in this process. According to him, President Mahama received the petitions in February but kept them confidential.

The public and Chief Justice were not informed until consultations began at the end of March. “The Chief Justice was blindsided by this news,” he said.

Mr. Dame noted that she learned from newspapers about the consultations based on earlier petitions.

He also criticized the President for not justifying his initial determination on these petitions. He described this process as flawed and lacking openness.

Dame believes this approach undermines confidence in the integrity of the inquiry.
