Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer is the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He has dismissed allegations made by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former boss of the National Signals Bureau. Adu-Boahene claimed that GHC5.1 million of the GHC49 million he allegedly stole was used to buy three vehicles for President John Mahama.
Dr. Tanko-Computer stated that he knows President Mahama's character. He believes Mahama would not engage in such actions. The NDC official accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of fabricating these claims to damage Mahama's reputation.
In an interview on Eyewitness News, Dr. Tanko-Computer said, “I don’t know anything about this.” He questioned how such a thing could happen, emphasizing Mahama’s integrity.
Adu-Boahene made his allegations while being held at EOCO cells. He claimed that GHC5.1 million was used to purchase a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum, a 2024 Nissan Patrol Titanium, and a 2022 Land Cruiser GXR. He alleged that this money was paid to a special aide of President Mahama.
Adu-Boahene denied any wrongdoing in his letter. He assured that he and his wife would never steal public funds as portrayed by the Attorney-General. He questioned how one could steal public funds without being flagged by the Auditor-General.
He also expressed concern over what he called misrepresentation by EOCO boss Raymond Archer. Adu-Boahene requested urgent intervention to prevent further embarrassment to the government and national security.
Currently, an Accra High Court has remanded him for seven working days. This will allow Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine time to prepare witness statements against him. Adu-Boahene will remain in custody with EOCO during this period.
