Maiden Agricultural Researchers-Investors Summit to be held in Kumasi

Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, will host Ghana's first Agricultural Researchers-Investors Summit. The event is scheduled for June 26-27, 2025.

Agri Eye Consult leads this initiative. They partner with the Crops Research Institute of CSIR-CRI, KNUST Faculty of Agriculture, and GARDJA.

Ghana's agriculture faces challenges similar to other sub-Saharan countries. Despite strong academic and research traditions in agriculture, a gap exists between researchers and industries. Valuable research often remains unused while entrepreneurs seek innovative solutions for agribusiness.

This disconnect is a missed opportunity and a call to action.

Richmond Frimpong, Chief Executive Director of Agri Eye Consult, emphasizes that research should drive national development. It can create jobs and enhance food system resilience.

He stated that Ghana has valuable research to improve seed systems and soil health. However, there is no structured platform connecting researchers with investors ready to support these innovations.

The Researchers-Investors Summit aims to break down barriers and foster collaboration. It seeks to turn ideas into action and science into sustainable businesses.

The summit's theme is “Bridging Innovation and Investment for a Resilient Agrifuture in Ghana.” It will take place at the KNUST Faculty of Agriculture.

Mr. Frimpong believes the summit is crucial for revitalizing Ghana’s agriculture sector. He noted that it could provide significant livelihoods amid economic uncertainty and rising youth unemployment.

The summit aims to transform research into scalable solutions urgently needed in Ghana's agricultural landscape.

Experts in agriculture and experienced investors are expected to attend the event. They will seek innovative solutions for the sector’s challenges.
