The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has called for reforms. He wants all constitutional bodies to stay relevant in Ghana's democracy.
Ayariga noted that the country's democratic landscape is changing. Institutions like the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) need to adapt. The same goes for the National Media Commission (NMC) and the Ghana Audit Service (GAS).
He emphasized the need to reassess their roles amid modern challenges. These challenges include cyber security, disinformation, and public education.
“It’s about how you strategically position yourself,” he said. “When that happens, you become a key actor.” This positioning can lead to better support for these institutions.
Mr. Ayariga made his remarks during a visit on Tuesday. The committee visited the offices of NCCE, NMC, and GAS in Accra.
