Ghana celebrated World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) yesterday. The public was urged to adopt hand hygiene as a daily habit. This practice helps break the chain of disease transmission nationwide.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh made this call. He emphasized that proper handwashing is crucial. Using alcohol-based hand sanitizers also reduces infection risks. He urged Ghanaians not to neglect this important practice.
This year’s theme is: “It might be gloves, it’s always hand hygiene.” The focus is on the importance of hand hygiene in healthcare settings. The campaign highlights the environmental impact of gloves.
Wearing gloves does not replace proper hand hygiene. Maintaining good hand hygiene is essential for public health. It helps prevent the spread of infections effectively.
