Mampong Traditional Council bans public processions, funerals ahead of late chief's 1-week observation

The Asante Mampong Traditional Council has banned all public processions. This includes funerals and noise-making activities. The ban is in effect ahead of the one-week observation for Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The observation will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025. The ban will last until the final funeral rites are completed. These rites are expected to occur within a month.

This decision follows arrangements by the Funeral Committee. The committee is chaired by Barimah Osei Hwedie II, the Adontenhene of the Traditional Council and Chief of Ejura. He has urged everyone to respect these arrangements.

The date for the main funeral will be announced later. This announcement depends on a meeting with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II praised Nana Agyakomaa Difie II, the Queen Mother, and other council members for their support. He assured the public that maximum security will be provided during this time.

The committee has met with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC). Each of the four municipalities in the traditional area will provide security personnel. They will assist during both the one-week observation and final funeral rites.

The Adontenhene encouraged people to attend in large numbers. This is a way to show appreciation for the late chief's dedication to Asanteman and Ghana.
