**Court Issues Warrant for Travel Agent's Arrest**
A Circuit Court in Dansoman has issued a bench warrant. This is for the arrest of 67-year-old travel agent Abdallah Tijani. He is accused of defrauding food vendor Hajia Fati Yussif of $16,000.
Tijani allegedly took money from Hajia Fati under false pretenses. He promised to arrange travel for her two sons to the United States. Since the case began on February 5, 2025, he has not appeared in court.
Despite multiple court dates, including February 5, 17, and March 3, Tijani did not show up. The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, requested the bench warrant due to his absence.
**Allegations and Background**
Hajia Fati was introduced to Tijani by an acquaintance in May 2023. He assured her he could facilitate travel arrangements quickly. Tijani claimed he had a package ready for two individuals traveling to the U.S.
He charged Hajia Fati $16,000 and convinced her that her sons would be included. She made the full payment at his office in Nima, Accra.
After receiving the money, Tijani failed to deliver on his promise. Instead of arranging travel, he offered repeated excuses. When she asked for a refund, he refused to return her money.
Frustrated with the situation, Hajia Fati filed a police complaint on January 13, 2025. Tijani was arrested on January 27 after being tracked down. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the offense.
**Legal Proceedings**
Tijani faces charges in court before Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit. The bench warrant will remain active until he is arrested and brought to trial.
