Man Arrested at Akatsi for Possession of 92 Slabs of Suspected Ganja

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bukari Yakubu. He was caught with a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp. This happened during an intelligence-led operation in the Volta Region.

Police stated that Yakubu was apprehended at his home in Akatsi. The arrest occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, around 1:00 a.m. Officers had been watching him before the arrest.

During a search of his residence, police found 92 slabs of yellowish-wrapped substance. They believe this substance is Indian hemp. Two Royal motorbikes, thought to be stolen, were also recovered.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Yakubu distributes narcotics in Akatsi and nearby areas. During questioning, he reportedly admitted ownership of the items found.

He is now in police custody and helping with ongoing investigations. Authorities plan to bring him to court soon. Police have emphasized their commitment to fighting illegal drug activities. They encourage the public to share any information that could help with similar operations.
