Dr. Jacob Mahama is the Zangbalun Lana. He leads the mediation team from Dagbon's Overlord, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.
He has blamed the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) management for the recent doctors' strike. Dr. Mahama believes this situation could have been avoided with better resources.
Doctors at TTH resumed emergency services after a successful intervention from Dagbon palace officials. On Eyewitness News, he emphasized that the strike was due to management's failure to provide essential tools and supplies.
"Everything is management," he said. "If you give them the right tools, there won't be many grievances." Doctors need proper tools and supplies to perform their duties effectively.
He noted that lack of resources frustrates doctors and leads to patient mistreatment. This mistreatment arises from shortcomings within the hospital itself.
"It is up to the management," he stated, calling it weak. "If they were doing their job well, we wouldn't have this issue." He questioned why other teaching hospitals are not facing similar complaints.
Dr. Mahama's comments highlight concerns about operational challenges at TTH. They stress the need for better leadership and logistics to prevent future disruptions.
