Manasseh Azure refutes claims of evading SML lawsuit

Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has denied claims that he is evading service in a GHS 21 million defamation suit filed by Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

He clarified that he has been in the U.S. since August 2024 and questioned why SML had not used substituted service, as done previously.

The lawsuit, filed in November 2024, concerns his book, The President Ghana Never Got, which details alleged corruption in the Akufo-Addo administration.

Manasseh suggested the media reports were timed to coincide with the Special Prosecutor’s probe into former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

He has instructed his lawyers to facilitate service of the writ, reaffirming his commitment to defending his work, which he says has saved Ghana millions.
