Marietta Brew chairs new UG Governing Council

Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has inaugurated the new Governing Council of the University of Ghana (UG).

The inauguration took place on Friday, April 25, 2025. The council is chaired by Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, a former Attorney General and current Presidential Legal Counsel.

During the ceremony, the minister urged council members to enhance the university's global reputation. He emphasized the importance of their hard work and dedication.

In her acceptance speech, Brew highlighted UG as a cornerstone of academic excellence in Ghana. She promised to collaborate with management through commitment and visionary leadership.

The council includes several notable members. They are Vice Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Naa Dr. Alhassan Andani, Dr. Kwesi Amakye-Boateng, and Ms. Precious Kyei Bonsu.

Other members are Dr. Abdul Karim Hatsu, Ms. Doris Kisiwa Ansah, Prof. Nana Akua Anyidoho, and Michael Owusu Ansah.

Additionally, John Dadzie Mensah, Prof. Folassade Tolulope, Rev. Fr. Stephen Owusu Sekyere are part of the council too.

Mr. George Agyekum Donkor, Ms. Tina Sackeyfio, Major Daniel Ablorh-Quarcoo (Rtd), Mrs. Yvette Adounvo Atekpe also serve on it.

Finally, Dr. Inusah Abdul-Nasiru, Maradona Adjei Yeboah, Bright Amansiah and Benjamin Nkumsah complete the council's membership.
