Martin Kpebu slams Patricia Appiagyei over bribery denial in ministerial vetting

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has criticized Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei for denying allegations of bribery in the vetting of ministerial nominees.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Kpebu commended former Bekwai MP Joe Osei-Owusu for acknowledging that MPs on the Appointments Committee receive money, even though he argued it does not amount to bribery or corruption.

However, Kpebu strongly disagreed with Appiagyei’s remarks on JoyNews' PM Express, where she refuted claims of financial inducements in the vetting process. He described her stance as a “great disservice to Ghana,” urging her to apologize and not treat the public as uninformed.

He maintained that bribery in Parliament is a long-standing issue, dating back at least two decades, and questioned Appiagyei’s outright denial, suggesting it raises concerns about integrity.

Kpebu insisted that her comments were disrespectful to Ghanaians and called on her to reconsider her position.
