East Legon Accident: Vigil for Victims Brings Tears and Remembrance
On Friday, October 18, 2024, a vigil was held for the victims of the East Legon accident. The event took place in all-white attire. Family, friends, and sympathizers gathered to honor the deceased.
Emotions ran high as attendees dropped flowers and shared tributes. They prayed for the souls of Maame Dwomoh Boaten and Justine Agbenu. Both girls were just 12 years old when they lost their lives in a tragic car crash.
The accident occurred on Saturday, October 13, 2024. The girls were in an Acura that was struck by a Jaguar SUV driven by Salifu Amoako's son. Reports indicate that the 16-year-old was speeding at the time of the crash.
The impact caused an electricity pole to break and sparked a fire. Sadly, this fire led to the girls being burned in the wreckage.
Almost a week after the incident, mourners gathered at the accident site. Many brought flowers and condolence messages to pay their respects. Videos from Citi FM showed tears and prayers as people remembered the young victims.
Students from Cornerstone Academy also attended to honor their classmates. They participated in dropping flowers and sharing memories of Maame Dwomoh and Justine.
Earlier reports highlighted Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako's distress over his son's actions. He has been on bail following his son's accident. In a video, he knelt down to ask for forgiveness from both families affected by this tragedy and from Ghanaians overall.
