The Ministry for the Interior has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday. This day will honor May Day.

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak signed the announcement on April 25. The statement emphasized recognizing labor's role in national development.

May Day, or Workers’ Day, is celebrated worldwide. It honors the efforts and rights of workers everywhere.

In Ghana, people celebrate with rallies and parades. Labour leaders and government officials give speeches during these events. It is also a time to reflect on progress and challenges in fair labor conditions.

This year’s holiday comes amid economic pressures. Labour unions are advocating for better working conditions and fair pay. It highlights issues affecting workers, especially in struggling sectors.

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) will lead this year's celebrations. They will announce the main event's theme and venue soon.
