Meet the 37 members of the 8th NDPC 

President John Mahama has inaugurated the Eighth National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).

Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, an economist, will chair the 37-member commission. This new commission replaces the previous 49-member one.

The NDPC was established under Articles 86 and 87 of the 1992 Constitution. It is part of the Executive branch of government. The National Development Planning Commission Act, 1994 (Act 479) and the National Development Planning (System) Act, 1994 (Act 480) provide its legal framework.

Key members include Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minister of Finance; Dr. Johnson Asiamah, Governor of the Bank of Ghana; and Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, Government Statistician. Other notable members are Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, Director-General of NDPC; Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender; and Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism.

Additional members include Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government; Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade; and Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Minister of Labour.

The commission also includes regional representatives from across Ghana. Notable representatives are Mr. Joseph Baradoe from Ahafo and Sir Charles Adjei from Ashanti.

Other regional representatives include Professor John Yaw Akparep from Bono East and Mr. Samuel Baabu Danso from Central Region.

Experts on the commission include Mr. Seth Ofori-Ohene in finance and business and Prof William Baah-Boateng in labor economics.

Institutional representatives come from various organizations such as AGI and GEA.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Thompson thanked President Mahama for this responsibility. He pledged that the commissioners would fulfill their duties diligently.
