The Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has confirmed that Ghana Armed Forces engineers have visited the Asuokow community in the Eastern Region to assess the risks faced by schoolchildren crossing a dangerous water body to access education.
This follows President John Dramani Mahama’s directive for urgent intervention after a viral video highlighted the situation.
In a Facebook post on February 10, Dr. Omane Boamah assured the public that the government is committed to finding a permanent solution.
The visit by military engineers marks the beginning of efforts to provide a safer alternative for the children, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving access to education and protecting vulnerable communities.
