Kofi Bentil is the Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa. He is also a private legal practitioner. He has called for a new strategy to address the conflict in Bawku, Upper East region.
Bentil believes the situation has surpassed police capabilities. He argues that military intervention is now necessary.
On JoyNews’ Newsfile programme, he discussed this issue on Saturday, April 12. He stated that deploying police officers has been ineffective over time.
He emphasized that the conflict requires a stronger response from the military. “The Bawku situation is not a police matter,” Bentil said.
He added, “We have been using it for a long time and we have been failing.” He insists it’s an army situation that needs to be addressed by military forces.
His comments come amid public debate about security responses in Bawku. There are increasing calls for a decisive resolution to the ongoing violence.
